I’m a trainrider of a few years past. There are some tensions between i and the newer generation of tramps and travelers; just one public example manifested during the National Hobo Convention organized annually in Britt, Iowa by the Hobo Foundation where there were problems last year that were blamed on drunk, unruly, young tramps. Many people hitchhike and trainhop ride clandestinely inside or outside a freight trainand quite a few have written on their experiences, most of which are much more colorful and interesting than mine.
The book’s got some typos, weird alignments, and Duffy’s not the most spectacular writer, but a fun and informing read nonetheless.
