Despite loving his mother and sisters dearly, Matt is relieved to be in the air where he feels closest to his father — a former sailmaker who died in an accident aboard the Aurora. Thankfully, Matt and Airorn do not require a ton of romance to keep the relationship interesting and enjoyable to read.
Once he meets Ms. Oppel was the focus of the piece it was for a Canadian site, he is Menneth found out about Airborn while surfing around looking for contemporaries of Harry Potter to see if any books had sold anywhere near the same number.
The fantasy elements are handled well and I think the interpersonal struggles of the main characters are not overly done. I recommend this to everyone, especially fans of the Leviathan trilogy by Scott Westerfield. I was paralysed kennerh excitement. Books by Kenneth Oppel. A second-generation airshipman, cabin boy Matt Cruse catches a glimpse of a sinking balloon ship, and helps engineer the daring rescue of its sole occupant.
It takes place in an alternate history of our world – so it may be classified as fantasy, but it is not really a fantasy story – it’s an adventure story. My favorite character was no doubt, Vlad.
Airborn by Kenneth Oppel – review
She is pretty, rich, demanding, intelligent, and strong minded. While on lookout duty, he spots a damaged balloon carrying an unconscious old man.
He didn’t know a lot he knew everything out there about airships. Airborn is about a cabin boy on an passenger air ship. And even when it is slow, for some reason, it moved. She likes science and photography and out-witting her chaperone. When writing a book that takes place on aurborn island, you might want to research such things, since pineapples actually grow on the ground.

Matt Cruse is a cabin boy on board the majestic airship Aurora. Refresh and try again. The other appeal of this particular audiobook was that is was performed by Full Cast Audio.
I’ll let you know if the series is worth it after I’m done. It could work as a standalone though it is part of a larger trilogy.
Matt’s curiosity about the man’s dying words is piqued a year later when the fellow’s granddaughter Kate arrives on board, bearing his journal. Writing was good and it had some nice imagery. Whenever possible, we invite the author to serve as narrator. I liked the MC, but the main female character was a spoiled, self-centered, idiotic brat.
In many YA books, I feel the romance can be overpowering, and the main plot can be lost in it. The plot was intense and full of action.
I liked Matt as the protagonist. It is only after Matt meets the balloonist’s granddaughter that he realizes that the man’s ravings may, in fact, have been true, and that the creatures are completely real and utterly mysterious. If you enjoy Airborn, make sure to pick up the sequel, Skybreaker, which is just as fantastic Starclimber’s pretty good too, though not as awesome as the first two.
