I give this novel 3 stars out of 5. It is a path that will take her from stinking back alleys to the house of her god, from blood-drenched battlefields to the glittering palaces of Mijak.

It’s like the author wanted to present to you this perverted twist on a traditional hero who grows up I read trillogy first book and could not continue. A slave trader chooses to purchase the beautiful but savage Hekat and treats her nicely, a far cry from how she and her mother were treated by her animalistic father.
It reads like a bad Shakespearean tragedy. It appears the author felt everything had to be repeated a minimum teilogy three times.

Such a fantastic series, the ending is a little underwhelming, I hate to say. By the third book, I was simply waiting for everything to end.

Oh, yes, he is!!! The first book wasn’t too bad–Hekat as a damaged-beyond-repair psychotic girl who claws her way from slavery to Empress was kind of an interesting concept. I read a few review first, just to get a feel for it, and I was puzzled at the mixed reactions.
