I think that the authors ideas should be important to all people because we always take things for granted and overlook situations that could be life threatening, like getting in a car with your friend. Peggy mentions that the plans that Ken had for the weekend, what they would do together, is something that she could accomplish at home. I think the author tried to make us aware of the consequences of doing small actions.
